In Generic extra processing/ HDRMultiScaleTransform, I understand Layers Iterations and Colour. but what does Overdrive do.

Hi Peter,
Overdrive is one of the settings in the HDRMultiScaleTransform Process. It defines the exponential factor. Cannot remember why I added it, I guess it helps in some cases. Below is the PixInsight tooltip for it.
